The Thunder in the Rockies motorcycle rally is held
each year in Northern Colorado. It is centered in Loveland Colorado but
the entire region has special events. This year's event will be held
Sept. 1-4 2006. The 2006 "Thunder in the Rockies" is still in the
planning stages but it will be bigger than 2005.
Last years event was deemed a roaring success by the
events two main sponsors Thunder Mountain Harley Davidson and The Ranch.
"Thunder in the Rockies" total attendance was 58,000 to 62,000 people of which 40% was from
out of town. The sponsors announced that the economic impact from this
annual event was about $14.5 million dollars. Dr. David Stotlar of the
UNC sports marketing department led a research team which determined
that 77% of all attendees stated their experience was "very good to
excellent."
Last year this event raised over $50,000 for the
victims of the Katrina Hurricanes and other local charities. $38,000 was
given to the Red Cross for Katrina Victims and $12,400 was given to
local charities. |
