Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival Welcomes Project LinusProject Linus is comprised of hundreds of local chapters and thousands of volunteers across the United States. Each volunteer and local chapter all work together to help achieve their mission which is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.” Together they have distributed over three million blankets to children in need since their inception in 1995. Please visit the Project Linus Booth at the RMQF in Booth 43 in the McKee Building. Discover how you can volunteer and help in the mission. They will also be hosting a book signing for “Working for Peanuts, The Project Linus Story” by Karen Loucks Rinedollar (available at Amazon).

Pass It On A QUILTER’S CHALLENGE SPONSORED BY MACHINE QUILTING UNLIMITED MAGAZINE
This challenge is about following creativity through a group of six quilters, along the lines of a grade-schooler whispering a sentence in the ear of a classmate, who then whispers to another, then another, until the final student repeats the sentence out loud (and it rarely resembles the original sentence!). We start with a photo chosen by the two Group Leaders. The Leader interprets the photo into a quilt. The Leader then sends that quilt to the second person in their group, but does NOT share the original photo. The second quilter interprets the first quilt and creates his/her own design. The second quilt is then sent to the third person, with no hint of the previous quilt that inspired quilter #2…and so on. By the time the sixth quilter produces a finished quilt, the design travels far from the original photo concept. But it shows the creativity sparked by each of the previous quilters’ work. Each group will use the same photograph as a starting point. It will be interesting to see the different interpretations from the two groups as well.
Hundreds of Quilts on Display!
We have over 600 quilts on display including the entire 2010 Hoffman/Sulky Fabric Challenge Traveling quilts. This is the ONLY time this display will be on exhibit all together.
