Happy Birthday Fort Collins New West Fest August 12-14th

The New West Fest is Fort Collins oldest and largest continuously running outdoor event. New West is celebrating its 23rd year and the featured entertainment Bohemian nights is celebrating it’s seventh year. There is not another music event in Colorado that rivals Bohemian Nights. With 6 stages and eight bands and music events this is the largest free entertainment event in all of Colorado and maybe the entire west. Below you will find a link for the music schedule.

The vendors come from far and wide to participate in the festival and there are over a hundred local vendors showing off their wares. These folks are lined up down East Mountain Ave for two blocks plus they are on Oak Street and Matthews Street for two blocks as well. There is art, photography, food and much more. You can talk real estate with Remax and insurance with insurance agents. You can buy clothes, sun glasses and t-shirts. You can buy some pretty unique gifts for the rest of the years and if you get hot there are straw hats too. There is also a carnival for the kids on the south side of library park. The park itself also has things for the kids like slides and other fun things.

The Creative Garden Returns this year and Beet Street, brings a unique artistic experience to Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest by transforming the Remington and Oak St. parking lot into a shady café-style oasis bursting with the talents of Fort Collins’ arts and culture community. Featured are a juried visual arts show/sale & youth arts exhibition,The Bohemian Nights Singer/Songwriter stage, family-friendly performing arts showcases, gourmet food, specialty beers, & wine and hands-on arts demos & activities

Included in the events on Saturday and Sunday is the kids dance exhibitions. Also on Saturday and Sunday you can find the stages full of demonstrations, magic and other entertainment by and for kids as well as adults. CLICK HERE for Schedule

Friday: Kick off concert Friday night 5:40-10:00pm on Mountain Ave Saturday: 10:00am-7:00pm with evening concerts until 10:00pm Sunday: 10:00am-7:00pm.

  • We ask people to leave their pets at home. NO PETS are allowed in the festival. (Only Service Dogs are allowed)
  • Wear sunscreen, shade is a commodity at the festival!
  • Ride Your Bike- festival is bike friendly & bike parking lot at Remington & Mountain Ave
  • Carpool! Parking is available along the surrounding streets & in both parking garages.
  • Garages are $5/all day Saturday and FREE on Sunday
  • Help the festival be GREEN – Please help us in this effort by recycling & composting!

    Seven years and growing every year, Bohemian Nights 2011 will feature over 80 of Colorado’s finest bands performing on six stages throughout this FREE, three-day, outdoor music extravaganza.

    Bohemian Nights is the main entertainment venue in this years’ 23rd annual NewWestFest celebration. The Bohemian Nights music program brings a world of music to Fort Collins and the best of Colorado music to the world. This years event will run Friday-Sunday August 12-14 in Historic OLd Town Fort Collins, Bohemian Nights seeks to share the incredible and diverse talent of Colorado musicians. Anchoring each day’s packed lineup of Colorado’s best musicians are national headliners – music fans will not be disappointed!

    Kicking off the weekend and starting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday August 12, Bohemian Nights will host three bands: first, Colorado band and the 2011 International Blues Competition winner, Lionel Young Band, will hit the stage; followed by alt-rock band, Cracker; and ending the evening, the cool blues, hip hop and roots sounds of G. Love & Special Sauce will rock Downtown.

    Shows start at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Fans are encouraged to attend early in the day to catch some of the best, new Colorado acts. Tedeschi Trucks Band will headline Saturday night, combining two amazing performers into one of the most celebrated acts in recent years. Husband-wife duo, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, will showcase their incredible talents and perform a blues, rock, soul-funk repertoire to wow Fort Collins.

    Sunday ends an amazing weekend of music with Austin’s most famous Texas swing group and nine-time Grammy Award winner, Asleep at the Wheel.

    With so much local talent, there’s truly something for everyone at Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest!

    THE LARIMER COUNTY FAIR, AUGUST 6-10

    Offering a jam packed schedule of live entertainment and free attractions, the 2010 Larimer County Fair, presented by Ranch-Way Feeds, will take place August 6–10 at The Ranch in Loveland.  Introducing the new theme “Home Grown,” the LCF gates will open to the public on Friday, August 6 with an exciting 2010 entertainment schedule.     ‘Toast to Ag BBQ’ and Bonfire will light up the opening night, sparking a new tradition for the Larimer County Fair. Join us at the BBQ at 6 p.m. while we support our local food growers for a home grown meal, followed by dancing in the dirt to live music by the light of the bonfire. Capping off the night’s festivities will be the AgLand Fireworks display.

    New to the Fair in 2010 the Ham Bone Express Pig Races will be hogging the limelight.  Races will run daily August 6–10 with multiple races featuring Arnold Schwarzenpigger and Claude VanHam.  The audience will have a chance to judge ‘the swiftest swine off the line,’ as they cheer on their favorite pig to the finish line.  For previews visit www.hamboneexpress3.com

    Back by popular demand will be the Gnarly Barley Brew Festival presented by Shock Top held on Saturday, August 7 in addition to Splash Dogs and JAX Timberworks Lumberjack Shows that will entertain crowds daily. Enjoy the Fair’s traditional events such as Bill Hames Carnival, PRCA Rodeos presented by Pederson Toyota, multiple 4-H events and exhibits, live music, family movie nights and firework displays.

    Another new event to LCF and to Northern Colorado is Bullhide 4×4’s Truck and Jeep Show on Saturday.  Featuring custom trucks and jeeps, awards for multiple categories will be given to top participants that enter their automobile.  All proceeds from the Truck and Jeep Show will go to Larimer County Child Advocacy Center.     Gnarly Barley Brew Festival August 7 The Ranch

    Gnarly Barley Brew Festival, presented by Shock Top, will be at Larimer County Fair Saturday, August 7, at The Ranch in Loveland, where pouring will begin at 1 p.m. The Brew Festival will be an afternoon of live music, and the sampling of over 60 craft brews, all for a great cause. A portion of every ticket purchased will go towards Loveland’s House of Neighborly Service.

    Fair-goers attending Gnarly Barley should prepare for an array of local and national brew tastes, including Colorado ‘Home Grown’ Budweiser, New Belgium, Coopersmith’s Pub & Brewing, Boulder Beer Company and for the first time to the Festival, Boston Beer Company. Gnarly Barley will include brew sampling, food and beer pairing, and People’s Choice Award voted on by Gnarly Barley attendees. The judging for the homebrew competition will take place at the Holiday Inn Express in Loveland.

    Admission for Gnarly Barley is $15 and includes a souvenir mug and six sampling tokens. Additional tokens will be available for only $1. Anyone 21 years of age and older may participate in the beer sampling and enjoy a wide variety of craft beers by local and nationally acclaimed breweries.     The musical acts for the event include local favorites Watertower, Archie Funker, Josh Blackburn and Steve Haven and the Mad Cow Posse.

    The Fort Collins Brewery will kick off Gnarly Barley Brew Festival with a Brew Master Dinner on Friday night, August 6 held in the Executive Club Restaurant and patio at Budweiser Event Center. Tickets, $60 per couple or $35 individually, will include a five-course meal, as well as a chance to hear FCB brew masters share their craft and the art of food and beer pairing.
