New Belgium Brewing Clips Of Faith Festival
New Belgium Brewing, maker of Fat Tire Amber Ale, has rounded up the most brilliant entries to their Clips of Faith film festival and taken the show on the road, coming home to Ft. Collins on September 9 as part of the Bike-In Cinema Series.
This first-year festival brings people together for a summer outdoor screening of collected amateur short films accompanied by some of New Belgium’s most esoteric beer offerings. The Clips of Faith Beer & Film Tour (www.clipsoffaith.com) is debuting in fourteen cities throughout the summer and fall of 2010.
The Ft. Collins stop is the most special screening of all, as the filmmaker festival honorees will be in attendance as part of their prize. Joining us that evening will be:
Joseph Marcello, Tarrytown, NY – The Trip – In this tragi-comic stop action short, two bottles of New Belgium Lips of Faith beers visit the Big Apple but only one makes it out alive!
Kenton Hoppas, San Diego, CA – Flat Tire – A noirish spaghetti western shot lovingly on Super 8 film involves a bike, a flat tire and some beer.
Nicholas Cryder, Tacoma, WA – Old Belgium/New Belgium – A young man leaves his best friend in charge of the apartment to go on a job interview and returns to find he has lost everything due to a little creative capitalism – everything, that is, except a little nectar from the bottle.
Each stop along the tour features a free outdoor screening of the collected films, a full tasting of New Belgium’s Lips of Faith beers (http://www.newbelgium.com/beer) and food from local vendors. In Ft. Collins, all proceeds from beer sales will benefit Wolverine Farm Publishing (http://www.wolverinefarmpublishing.org/).
“This tour combines our great passions – folly and beer,” said Meredith Giske, New Belgium Brewing event director. “These short films will do a great job setting the stage for the beers we will be serving from our Lips of Faith portfolio, which features some of our most creative and hard-to-find brews.”
Entries range from kayaking buddies navigating grizzlies and whales on a paddling trip from Alaska to Seattle, to visual odes to people’s love affairs with their bikes, assorted comedy shorts, and thought-provoking environmental pieces. View a preview at www.clipsoffaith.com.
“Craft beer, sustainability and whimsy – all caught on film,” added Giske. “Add in some tasty Lips of Faith beer, and you experience New Belgium’s style of show business.”
